Calling dibs

I recently released a new fun side-project callingdibs.com where you can call dibs on celebrities. You have to give a reason why your favorite star should belong to you. If it is already taken by someone else, you can pull on that person and let your friends vote for you to get dibs on him/her. It’s like “I call dibs on Chuck Norris because I have a tattoo of him on my chest!”.

Rails removed returning but Faker brought it in again

We wondered why our specs were NOT failing even we hadn’t removed all returnings and replaced them by tap in our current Rails 3 rc2 project. The solution was that the faker, the fake data generation library, is patching Object and introducing it’s own version of returning. This is why I believe in slim and clean test-frameworks, that don’t pollute core objects.

FLVTool2 on github

During the last years I didn’t gave FLVTool2 the love it deserved. But the community was very productive and came up with a lot of bug reports, patches and suggestions. I didn’t find the time to get all that good feedback into FLVTool2. Now I put the FLVTool2 source code on github so that you can fork your own version and push back fixes easily.

Webhoster can’t find server after outage

Posted in inlet media on December 28th, 2009 by admin – Comments Off

My web hoster can’t find my server anymore after it went down unexpectedly. Since the backup server in the same facility also went down and is also not findable, I have to recover the site from various backups. This could take a moment. Sorry for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: I moved to a new hosting. It’s half the cost and ten times as professional.
